The Club meets every second Monday of every month.  Meeting starts at 7:30pm.  Socialise with other members from 7:00pm.

Author Paul Maxim is talking about Bill Denz.  Bill was a mountaineer with attitude.  He inspired and provoked a generation of Kiwi climbers.  Denz pushed the limits beyond what we thought was possible and left a collection of routes in the Aoraki/Mount Cook region and in the Darrans that are seldom repeated.  Climbers still break out in a nervous sweat just thinking about them.  His death on Makalu robbed the climbing world of one of its great characters but created an enduring legend.

Bill Denz did a lot in the Himalayas and Yosemite as well.  Internationally he became known for his stubborn and uncompromising style, leading to articles written about him like "The Denz Option" in the American Climbing Magazine Rock and Ice.  Doug Scott (the first Brit to climb Mt Everest) related to an Auckland Audience in 2002 how Bill climbed to a summit in the Himalayas a year after he and his partner labeled it impossible.
