Annual Climbing Camp 2012

Aoraki Mt Cook: Unwin Lodge

The 2012 Climbing Camp, was held at Aoraki Mt Cook this summer and hosted by the South Canterbury Section. The dates for the event were 2–8 January and the base is the newly improved Unwin Lodge.

The Mt Cook area offers extensive opportunities for everyone – not just climbers! Trampers, fishermen, rock climbers and artists, or those who just want to be in the mountain environment will find endless opportunities to enjoy themselves.

Registration

To register for the camp, click here to download the form. Send to the Home of Mountaineering via pat [at] alpineclub [dot] org [dot] nz (email) or post. There were a number of options listed for paying the registration fee, which was $35. Accommodation costs were extra and made, along with a booking, to the Unwin Lodge manager at 03 435 1100 or email: unwin [at] alpineclub [dot] org [dot] nz.

The camp included a barbeque on opening night, which is free to all attendees. There was another barbeque for long-stayers at midday on the 8th at a cost of $15 a head.

National Office will attempt to put those wishing to fly into specific destinations in touch with each other for sharing flights.

Whatever your form of recreation, this will be a great opportunity to meet like minded people and experience our premier mountain area.
