Since Sir Edmund Hillary's first successful ascent of Mt Everest on May 29th, 1953, many of New Zealand's mountaineers have attempted to reach the summit of the world's highest peak.

As part of the 60th Anniversary of the ascent of Everest, the NZAC's quaraterly magazine, The Climber (Issue #83) featured the list of NZ Climbers who summitted Everest with their images. This has been made avaliable on the magazine's website. 60th Anniversary list of NZ Everest summitters
Notice - 2013 Everest Ascents
There were no NZ ascents in 2014 following a tragic avalanche that killed 16 sherpas. A scholarship fund to support the education of the children of mountaineers killed on Mt Everest has been established. Details can be found here.:
There were no NZ ascents in 2015 due to the devasting earthquake that hit Nepal during that climbing season.
