DOW Hall Publications Fund
The Club produces many publications like the The Climber magazine and the New Zealand Alpine Journal. In addition we also produce guidebooks for the major climbing areas around the country, including both rock and alpine climbing.
In 1975 Alice Hall, the widow of the late David Oswald William Hall, set aside $2000 in trust to "provide financial assistance for the publication of alpine literature". The New Zealand Alpine Club is often asked to support alpine writers in this area and has endeavoured to see the fund continue with donations received from those who wish to encourage others with a passion for our mountain environment, to record their knowledge in print.
The first recipient of this fund was Hugh Dale Wilson for the publication of "Field Guide; Wild Plants of Mount Cook National Park" 1978
Recently the NZAC DOW Hall fund has supported Norman Hardie's autobiography On My Own Two Feet, and Chris Maclean's biography on John Pascoe.
