Instruction Manager

Manage all aspects of the climbing instruction programme:

Manage the regular annual programme of Section courses, for example:
  • Rockclimbing & Snowcraft Course
  • Intermediate Ice Climbing
  • Rock and Snowcraft Instructor Training
  • Other new courses as required
  • Prepare and document syllabi for all the established courses within the annual programme.
  • Prepare and document guidelines for Chief Instructors and risk management plans for all courses.
  • Integrate Section level courses and syllabi with the national instruction course programme.
  • Develop and nurture a wide instructor base within the club membership to ensure the future of the Section instruction courses.
  • Assist club members in obtaining instructor ratings with other organisations such as Mountain Safety Council or NZOIA by either nominating members onto these courses, or organising such courses for members, or arranging subsidies and funding from grants and development funds.
  • Arrange for course participants to contribute articles, reports and photos from courses for publication in the newsletter.
  • Liase with NZAC National and other climbing organisations such as FMC, Mountain Safety Council and NZOIA, to ensure that their courses are advertised and promoted to our members.
  • Maintain all equipment (ropes, snow stakes) held by the club for use on instruction courses.

Maintain records and prepare reports:

  • General Records: record all objective measures such as number of instructors used, number of days, number of participants, demographic profiles of instructors/participants alike (age, sex, ethnicity, experience), instructor/student ratios.
  • Hillary Commission: should include courses offered and numbers attending. These reports are to conform to the criteria and parameters laid down by the Hillary Commission.
  • Section Report: should include courses offered, courses run, number of instructors and students, courses planned, other developments, problems and issues.
