Newsletter Editor
Produce the monthly section newsletter:
- Compile news, current events, and advice of upcoming events and articles pertaining to activities of members or of topical interest into the production of the Auckland Climber.
- Encourage contributions to the Auckland Climber in the way of articles and news from as many members as possible. It is tremendously helpful when the Trips Officer supplies trip reports, the Meeting Organiser writes about the club night, the Instruction Manager provides course reports and Section Rep for club notices.
- Arrange for the printing and postage of the Auckland Climber each month. Keep printing and postage costs within the constraints laid down by the Treasurer and Section committee in the annual budget.
- Some sections organise and manage advertising and sponsorship to cover some printing and postage costs.
- Suggestions on the content of each issue of Section newsletter include:
- The name of the Section with the club's logo, a return address, postage permit, and the date, month and year of issue; [reviews and reviews of club nights including the next club night date, time and place; a short piece on what the event is and encouragement for members to attend; an account of the last club night; astory, event or trip involving climbing and/or club members; committee directory; names, contact details (ph, fax, email); calendar of Events; trips, club nights, instruction courses, competitions
- Other ideas: Climbing news including rock, alpine and indoor themes, news gleaned from newsletters from other sections/clubs, for sale and wanted
- Editorial, photos, letters to the editor, chairpersons column, hut report
- Advertising although no more than a third of area is a good guideline
- Gossip column, tidbits on the movements of members, instruction course and trips reports
- Copies of each issue of the newsletter need be posted to the Legal Deposit Office of the National Library of NZ, Auckland Public Library, and the Hocken Library, each of the other sections, the NZ Alpine Journal editor, NZ Climber editor, the Administrator, the Unwin Hut warden, the President, and the Hon Secretary.
