Vice ChairPerson

Act as an advisor and stand in for the chairperson:

• Act as advisor and support to the Chairperson in discussing the management of the Section or specific problems.
• Deputise for the Chairperson as necessary in case of absence.
• Act as a watchdog for the club ensuring the Chairperson does not overstep his or her responsibilities. In this respect the role could be undertaken by a more mature member of the club.
• Deputise for other portfolios should these fall vacant.
• This role is possibly the most nebulous of the committee roles and needs some clarification. The role could be conceived of as that of heir apparent to the Chairmanship. A sensible method of doing this is to undertake a troubleshooting role to deal with problems or other specific one off tasks. There is no reason why the Vice Chairperson could not also be additionally allocated another ordinary committee portfolio such as Instruction or Meetings.
