CW Section - Beginners Snowcraft **FULL**

An ideal beginners snow craft course, designed for those that which to learn to travel safely above the snow line, teaching balance and movement on snow, ice axe and crampon techhiques and their use, self arresting on snow, snow shelters, trip planning and navigation and the basics of avalanche equipment and its use ( this is not an avalanche course ). This course will not be teaching the use of ropes in any way.

At a minimum, you must have tramping experience and be able to carry a pack uphill for up to 6 hours a day so good moderate fitness required - this course would not be suitable to anyone with no tramping experience of below average fitness.
Non NZAC members are welcome to apply but you must be a signed up , current member within 7 days of the registration form being sent out and there are only 12 spots available on the course.
NO REFUND given once paid for the course unless for genuine reason and you give enough notice for a replacement to be found.
PLEASE NOTE - this is a one evening and two weekend course with all three components compulsory in order to atend so please DO NOT APPLY if you cant meet the requirements as follows:
Evening:Tuesday 17th July, 7pm , evening session where equipment will b e sorted and the course discussed.
Friday 27th July, to be available to leave town car pooling only with the rest of the group ( not travelling individually), leaving no later than 5.30pm, returning to Christchurch Sunday 29th July in the evening.
Friday 10th ( evening ) to Sunday 12th August - this will be a half weekend, picking the best weather and snow conditions to do an alpine journey with the skills taught and climbing a peak within the capabilities of the entire group. You must be available for the entire weekend , like the first one, and this will also act as a back up in case weather interupts any part of the course on weekend one.
The course fee will be $225 and this will cover all the accomodation at the NZAC Arthurs Pass Lodge, three evening meals ( gluten free and vegetarian options available ), fuel reimbursements to drivers, tea, coffee and milk for the weekend, free equipment use where available ( a full list will be sent when registering ), and two weekends of quality instruction. 
All other food - breakfasts, lunches, snack foods and drinks must be provided yourself.
NZAC Arthurs Pass Lodge:
A fully functioning house in the village we drive right to and that has everything a normal house would have - hot showers, inside toilets, fully functioning kitchen with all utensils and whiteware, lounge area and two x shared bunk rooms - please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, shower kit, change of clothes and spare shoes etc.
