Situation Vacant: FMC Development Officer
FMC is New Zealand’s foremost outdoor recreation advocacy organisation. Our 20,000 members tramp, climb, ski, hunt and explore New Zealand’s wild places.
FMC speaks on behalf of New Zealanders recreating in our backcountry. Our volunteer Executive are democratically elected from over 80 affiliated clubs nationwide. FMC has a vacancy for a part time Development Officer. The role is required to undertake, on average, 15 hours work per week. Occasional weekend work enables attendance at FMC meetings, but otherwise the successful candidates will have the flexibility to set their own hours. FMC does not maintain an office, so the role will be undertaken remotely.
The role is focused on enhancing FMC’s membership services. This will include working through affiliated clubs to provide resources and tactics for increasing outdoor participation and skills, as well as working with outdoor businesses to improve what FMC can offer our members in membership benefits, merchandising and advertising. The opportunity also exists for a suitable candidate to contribute more widely to FMC’s mission.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to design and execute projects, be a confident public speaker and a writer with experience in producing manuals or other resources. An eye for graphic design or competence in basic web design, would also be helpful. The candidate will most importantly have a demonstrable passion and expertise in outdoor recreation and a track record of getting people into the hills.
