Sustainable Summits Conference 2016
In 2016 we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the NZAC. I am delighted to share with you an exciting initiative of the Club in hosting the 3rd global Sustainable Summits Conference in New Zealand in August. The conference addresses human impact in the mountains. The conference is open for registration and the website http://sustainable-summits.com/ gives more details.
The Club has received excellent support from key interested parties including Department of Conservation, FMC, American Alpine Club, US National Park Service and Petzl Foundation. We have an excellent speakers from New Zealand and around the world.
The conference, coordinated by past presidents John Cocks and Dave Bamford, will attract about 120 attendees. NZAC and FMC members are warmly invited to attend and offered a discounted registration. In addition, two young NZAC members studying or working on sustainable environmental issues will receive awards covering registration and accommodation at Unwin Lodge during the conference – see website registration page.
Although we have sufficient funds for the conference we are still seeking supportive sponsors. An option for an NZAC member is to provide additional financial support by registering as a conference patron -– see website registration page.
Conference participants will actively share information on and seek practical solutions to mountain sustainability. It it is a key part of the celebrations of 125 years of NZAC activity.
Please feel free to contact John Cocks or Dave Bamford on email@example.com
