Trip Report – Castle Downs Club Trip
By: Matt Humphries
It was a typical Southland day that greeted us as we all pulled into Castle Downs, sunshine and high spirits was the order of the day. Climbers all went in different directions as the day wore on. The Gravitron (23) got a hiding as people were queuing up to test themselves on the infamous overhang, while the more sensible of us spent the day climbing in the classic area and above the picnic spot.
Lunch time brought out the bbq and good banter and after far too many sausages it was time to waddle out for a few afternoon climbs. A great time was had by all and a special thanks needs to go to Peter for supplying the bbq and Daniel for being our own Jamie Oliver for the day. We hope this event will become a regular on the Southland calendar and continue to be well supported by our members.
