About the club

The New Zealand Alpine Club was formed in 1891. It includes over 4500 members with interests in all forms of climbing including mountaineering, ice and mixed climbing, traditional rock climbing, sport climbing, bouldering and indoor climbing. Recently, it has also welcomed members with interests in ski touring and ski mountaineering.
