Mt Aspiring National Park
Summary:
This large alpine hut is located just below the snow line and offers amazing views across the Matukituki Valley, and provides a safe haven on route to ascents of Mount Aspiring.
Location:
1,465m on the Mt French ridge, West Matukituki Valley, Mount Aspiring National Park.
Facilities:
20 bunks, DOC radio, water tank, toilet.
Access:
2 hours from Aspiring Hut to Pearl Flat then 3 hours up French Ridge through steep bush and open tussock.

- Members $20 per night
- Non-members $40 per night
- Youth rate members (11-17 years) $10 per night
- Youth non-member rate (11-17 years) $20 per night
- Children (10 yrs and under) free
NZAC membership can be added to your DOC hut and campsite account. You can do this yourself online or if you require help, email proof of your valid NZAC membership to [email protected]. Once loaded onto your account, discounts will be applied at the time of the booking.
If you haven’t had your membership loaded onto your account and have paid full price, contact DOC 48 hrs later to receive a refund of the difference. The DOC office requires 48 hours for the bank to process the payment before they can refund it.
