Section Courses (Beginner to Intermediate)

Our 11 regional Sections run courses throughout the year, including:

  • Basic rock climbing and belaying
  • Introduction to snowcraft
  • Avalanche awareness
  • Navigation and bushcraft

These courses are taught by experienced volunteer instructors and are significantly more affordable than commercial alternatives. Check out the alpine or rock pathways to see where you fit in and contact your local Section, or check the Section and Course calendars (scroll down) to see what is coming up.

National Courses (Intermediate to Advanced)

Once you have some basic skills, NZAC runs nationally organised courses for members seeking advanced skills:

  • High alpine skills course
  • Technical ice climbing
  • Ski mountaineering

The courses below show by date and will disappear as the date passes.
