It Pays to Belong
Why NZAC membership pays for itself
You don't need to be bagging peaks every weekend for NZAC membership to be worth it. Membership isn't about doing everything, all the time. It's about having access when you need it. Use one or two benefits a year and you've likely covered the cost. Explore all benefits here.
It saves you money
Member rates on accommodation, instruction, guidebooks and events add up fast. Partner discounts with your favourite gear shops, ski fields and climbing gyms stretch it further. Many members cover their annual fee in a single trip, and the benefits compound if you are part of a household group.

It unlocks access you can't get otherwise
Some things aren't available as pay-as-you-go. Membership gives exclusive access to Homer Hut in Summer, the premier climbing base for those Fiordland adventures. We offer affordable, quality instruction in the disciplines you care about, while connecting with other Club members along the way. Access to gear hire ensures you can always get out doing things, even as a beginner, and member access to ClimbNZ means you can save all your newly logged ascents in your digital logbook. Most importantly, the Club is the collective voice that keeps your climbing areas open and maintained. Only members can use these services. Instruction courses alone are likely to save you hundreds of dollars when compared with commercial operators, and you get a built-in community of climbing partners to support you afterwards!
You support climbers now and into the future
The Club advocates on behalf of all Climbers. Membership directly supports this work and ensures that climbers have a voice in the most important outdoor issues of the day. This benefits you and those who come after you.
You belong, without obligation
You don't need to attend every event, post lots of trip reports or volunteer (although we love volunteers!). Membership means being part of the climbing community on your terms. Show up when it suits you as we'll be here, stoked on the climbing life and ready to support you whatever your climbing endeavours.
