NZAC Photocomp 2024 - Alpine Nature
The judging for this year's NZAC Photo Competition is now complete! Stay tuned to our website throughout the week as we reveal the winners for each category, leading up to the announcement of the overall winner at the end of the week.
It can be quite a challenge to capture natural subjects in the mountain environment and today's winner has been successful in this feat. The winner of the Alpine Nature category for this year is Matthew Chan (@mattc.explores) with his image above. He captions it: Kea dashing about at MacKinnon Pass, Milford Sound. Congratulations Matt, he has won a Beringia Tsurugi Jacket.
The judges' comments were: The judging team was instantly captivated by the exuberant joy expressed in this image. The ridgeline's graceful curve perfectly frames the dynamically swooping circus of kea (look it up!). Turn the image on edge and squint, and you might even catch a glimpse of a yin and yang symbol. - Judge Dennis Radermacher.
There were also four images awarded with Honours recognition, shown below. They win A Wild Life from Potton & Burton or a prize from Berengia. Congratulations also to Andy Woods, Fynn Marno-Simpson, Maddy Whittaker, Michael Beckman, Penzy Dinsdale, and Ross Cullen who entered images awarded with Accepted recognition.
Thanks again to the photo competition judges Simon Waterhouse, Mark Watson and Dennis Radermacher.
