Powerband Podcast With Lydia Bradey
Episode 48 of the Powerband Podcast interviews Lydia Bradey. Lydia's story will be familiar to many followers of New Zealand climbing lore. Her solo ascent of Everest without supplemental oxygen in 1988 was the first by a woman. The aftermath of her ascent—with it being called into question by members of her own expedition—was a low point in the history of the Alpine Club.
In the interview, John Palmer manages to find some unique angles in exploring this incident, while also touching on Lydia's formative climbing experiences and her three seasons repeating scary aid lines in Yosemite, as well as her retirement plans.
It's well worth a listen.
