Research Into Avalanche Safety For Mountaineers
Mountain Safety Council are spearheading research into the culture of mountaineering and avalanches in New Zealand. Since 1998, 70% of the 27 avalanche-related deaths in New Zealand were mountaineers. Despite this, avalanche training in New Zealand is perceived to be targeted largely at ski professionals. This survey and research by MSC attempts to address this discrepancy and find ways to improve the resources and training available in relation to avalanches and mountaineers. Take part in this research by completing the survey and help our community improve the knowledge and training available. Plus, you are also eligible for a $500 outdoor store voucher.
