NZAC Photocomp 2024 - Rock Climbing
The judging for this year's NZAC Photo Competition is now complete! Tomorrow we will reveal the Overall Winner, and today we are looking at the always-popular Rock Climbing category.
The winner of the Rock Climbing category for this year is the image shown above, by John Palmer (@jpflexor). He captions it: Sunstrike on Alisdair Armstrong on the Pacifica Wall, Whanganui Bay.
The judges' comments were: Sometimes simple images are the best images - JP's striking image grabs your attention and places it firmly in the action. It's a minimalist image that could stand well in black and white or colour. Great climbing images connect you with the climber and the climb, and John's done that well by keeping his eyes, hands and feet a part of the story. - Judge Simon Waterhouse
Well done JP on your excellent photo. He has won a Black Diamond Speed Zip 24 and Black Diamond Speed Zip 33!
There were also six images awarded with Honours recognition, shown below. They win prizes from A Wild Life from Potton & Burton or a prize from Black Diamond. Congratulations also to Andy Baird, Curdin Krummenacher, Derek Cheng, Eugene Yeo, John Palmer, Nat Warburton, and Rauri Macfarlen who entered images awarded with Accepted recognition.
Thanks again to the photo competition judges Simon Waterhouse, Mark Watson and Dennis Radermacher.
