NZAJ Spring 2023 Issue Published
The spring issue of the 2023 New Zealand Alpine Journal is now making its way out to members and subscribers through the mail. We hope you enjoy perusing it over the holiday period.
This is a well-rounded issue and features some fantastic photography from our NZAC Photographic Competition and also from former Editor, turned international bike-packer extraordinaire, Mark Watson, not to mention the fantastic cover shot from Geoff Spearpoint. There's also articles on a new(ish) big wall climb in the Wilkin valley, the culmination of a long project to climb all the 6000m+ peaks in Bolivia, a piece on the lighter side of climbing and human waste, an interview with two climbers who turned climbing's shortest-form discipline into a marathon effort, the President's Page with a first-time contribution from incoming president Jim Petersen, historical pieces on Porter Lodge and the Dogtucker mountaineers, an Expedition Fund report on a first ascent in Baffin Island, some philosophical musings on the climbing process, a traveller's tale of climbing in Corsica, tnhe editor's take on elite climbing's issues with weight and grades and finally, obituaries for those who have passed.
Plenty to keep you busy while it rains and inspire you for the fine weather to come.
