NZAC Photocomp 2024 - Youth

The judging for this year's NZAC Photo Competition is now complete! Stay tuned to our website throughout the week as we reveal the winners for each category. Today we are looking at the Youth category, this category is open to photographers 20 years and under at the time of entry, including non-members.

The winner of the Youth category with the fantastic image above, is Nat Warburton (@kiwi_nats_adventures | @redpointproductionsnz). He captions the photo:  Fia Warburton focused on the gentlemen's club "White Pepper".

The judges' comments were: Nat's photograph was one of the strongest rock climbing entries overall, not only in youth. Key to the image is the way it captures the tension, balance and precision of rock climbing. Every contact point is visible as the climber is captured locked in mid move with her eyes focused on an unseen hold. A simple colour palette, pleasing toning and well utilised depth of field all contribute to making it a clear winner. Judge Mark Watson

Congratulations Nat, it is a pleasure to see your entries each year. Nat has won a $1000 scholarship from Alpine Recreation.

Nat also was awarded with Honours recognition for his image shown below. He wins a prize MSR Windburner® Personal 1L Stove System. Congratulations also to Fynn Marno-Simpson, Nat Warburton, Pippin Clearwater who entered images awarded with Accepted recognition.

Thanks again to the photo competition judges Simon WaterhouseMark Watson and Dennis Radermacher.
